Crown lifting
Crown lifting is the process of removing individual branches to increase the space between the ground and the lowest branch. This is normally done to increase the visibility and light under the tree, and clearance of any obstructions.
Why would I choose crown lifting?
-
To keep branches away from traffic.
-
To keep the branches off of buildings.
-
To keep road/shop signs clear.
-
To allow more light under the tree.
When NOT to choose crown lifting
-
When the tree already has a high crown.
-
When large branches need to be removed to achieve crown lifting, as this can cause problems for the future growth of the tree.
